Caterpillar fungus, or cordyceps, is called the ‘Himalayan Gold’ for good reason — the herb, often used in traditional Chinese medicine, is worth three times as much as actual gold.<br /><br />Every year, pickers rush to the Himalayan plateau to forage for pieces of this prized herb. They only have a short two months to hunt for them, as the harvest period occurs between May and June.
